Why Chiropractic Works

Chiropractic means "handmade". As a Chiropractor I seek to find and correct the cause of the problem and not the symptoms. No drugs, pain killers, injections or surgery.

Our chiropractic clinic in alicante focuses on the spine and nervous system. We have three objectives:

  1. To make you feel better as soon as possible.
  2. Get your spine and muscles in good shape.
  3. Maintaining you once you are in good condition

Chiropractors are experts in the spine.

They are highly skilled professionals who detect spinal problems and help the body to heal itself through skilled manual "adjustments". Our chiropractor, James, completed his 5 year master's degree in chiropractic in the UK 15 years ago and has been practicing in Alicante for the last 10 years.

If you have a back or neck problem this can lead to pinched nerves that cause symptoms such as sciatica, low back pain, neck pain, shoulder pain and headaches.

How chiropractic can help you.

Maybe you spend too much time sitting in front of your computer, your cell phone or on the couch watching TV. Or maybe your job requires you to do a lot of repetitive movements, or you play sports, or you accumulate a lot of emotional stress. Any of these factors (or a combination of them) can create spinal problems.

Chiropractic restores spinal mobility through skilled manual "adjustments". This helps your nervous system do what it does best: heal and support you! Once recovered, you will feel much better, more mobile and healthier.

Chiropractic doesn't treat your symptoms, it works with your body so you can heal yourself and what could be better than that?

Common problems

Headache

The most common are tension headaches and migraines. Headaches can be caused or influenced by a variety of factors, including: poor posture, stress, repetitive movements, sitting at a computer all day or perhaps a previous traffic accident. Migraines are stronger headaches that may be accompanied by sensitivity to light, nausea and vomiting. They can be influenced by all of the above factors, but also by hormones and certain foods.

Herniated Disc

The intervertebral discs are like shock absorbers located between the vertebrae of the spine. The disc has a soft gel-like nucleus on the inside and a fibrous annulus on the outside. If the disc wears out, the gel can break through the annulus and a herniation occurs. Sometimes herniated discs can cause a lot of pain, such as acute sciatica in the leg or severe pain from the neck down the arm.

Neck Pain

With all the time people spend in front of the cell phone, computer or TV, it's no wonder they suffer from neck pain. The head is heavy and, if the posture is incorrect, the neck muscles have to work much harder to support it. Over time, this can lead to neck pain and muscle tension in the shoulders. Likewise, if you have had whiplash this can predispose you to neck pain even years later.

Atrosis

This is the degeneration of joints, especially weight-bearing joints such as those in the neck, back, hips and knees. Over time, the cartilage in the joints wears down, they become stiff and can cause pain. This degeneration process is a one-way street, so it cannot be reversed. But you can help slow it down, restore healthy joint movement or, better yet, stay in good shape to help prevent it.

Scoliosis

Scoliosis is an abnormal sideways curvature of the spine when viewed from behind. People with scoliosis may have a hump on one side of the mid-back (especially visible when bending forward). Depending on the severity of the curve, scoliosis can be treated with noninvasive care and exercise.

Sciatica

If you have low back pain that radiates down one side of your buttock, down your leg, down your calf and into your foot causing tingling in your toes, then you are most likely suffering from sciatica. It is usually due to a herniated lumbar disc that pinches the nerves going down your leg. It can sometimes be very painful, but with proper care you can make a full recovery.

Lumbar Pain

Also known as lumbago or low back pain, low back pain will affect most people at some point in their lives. Sitting puts continuous pressure on the lower back. At some point it can become too much, the lower back becomes blocked, the spinal nerves are pinched and the muscles spasm painfully. People can also have low back pain after a bad gesture, but in reality it is usually the bad gesture that causes the pain after the problem has been slowly developing over a long period of time.

Cervical Dizziness

One of the most common causes of dizziness is a neck problem. Poor neck posture, previous car accidents, whiplash, stress and too much time in front of the computer and cell phone are some of the causes. The neck becomes stiff, pinching the nerves at the base of the neck, which can lead to neck pain and dizziness. Regaining neck mobility and improving posture should help.

FREQUENT QUESTIONS

At your first appointment we will take a medical history, do a complete physical examination (including a postural analysis), examine your main problem, spine and nervous system.
Afterwards it may be necessary to perform other studies, such as x-rays.
You can be sure that we will focus fully on finding the cause of your problem.

Most people will respond very well to our personalized attention, that said, once we have all the information we need about your case we will explain what is going on and how we can help you.

Great question! It depends on the severity of the problem and many other factors such as lifestyle, age, diet, exercise and stress.
Usually people respond gradually until they feel much better and then we keep them that way.

After the physical examination and full explanation of your problem, we will recommend a treatment plan to make you feel better as soon as possible and to get you in good condition so that you can return to your normal life.
The cost will depend on the duration of the plan, which we will explain in detail.
We also have bonuses.

It depends on the severity of the problem.
If x-rays are needed, they can be done quickly and easily.

We want you to feel better as soon as possible and will begin treatment as soon as we can.
Our intention is to treat everyone on the first visit, but we cannot guarantee it.

Very safe and very effective.
Our practitioners are fully qualified and very experienced in adjusting (manipulating) the spine and other joints of the body.
Sometimes people will feel ups and downs after the first couple of sessions but these are normal.
You are in good hands.

A chiropractor is an expert in the spine and nervous system.

An osteopath is an expert in the spine, joints and soft tissues of the body.

Most people respond very well to both.
As professions they have more similarities than differences.
In the end it is a personal choice, but with either one you will receive the best personalized care from an expert.
